"Every person, no matter their circumstances, past, or the evil they have washed can exist redeemed past God through the blood of Christ. In the end, the blood is all that matters." ~ Writer Debbie Viguie'In the second book in the Osculation Trilogy, Kiss of Death picks upwards where her debut novel Kiss of Nighttime left off. This is a wonderful and in my personal stance a well-written alternative to those Twilight fans, who are looking for a Christian alternative. Equally Debbie discusses what made her write this novel and if in fact it'due south possible to write a Christian vampire novel, she shares that, "Yes, I can, and I believe others should write them as well."
The Kiss trilogy is a redemption story. Equally Christians we believe that even the most evil of people can still be reached and saved by the love of God and the cede of Christ. I enjoy, as many Christians practise, the fantasy genre. It helps make hard themes easier and less depressing to deal with than straight drama. It would accept been simple to write a redemption story with a mass murderer equally the lead character just information technology would not be a story I would want to read. By taking the mass murderer and instead calling him a vampire it helps y'all hold the fiction at arm's length and tell yourself "it's simply a story."
The Buss of Decease is about a vampire by the proper name of Raphael who is desperately trying to observe a way to bring a sense of purpose and redemption to his own life. While he can't alter who he is as a vampire, he believes he can yet do the correct thing and aid battle against his own kind who are seeking to destroy the globe and begin a war of evil with Richelieu as the caput of the vampire regular army. Now it seems his goal is to locate the ancient religious artifacts, like the crown of thorns, the nails... that contain the blood of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The Bible said that you're not supposed to eat or drink the blood of whatsoever animate being, because the life of the creature resides in the blood. By taking the blood of the animal into yourself, you make its life, its spirit, a part of y'all. That's why at that place are so many prohibitions against drinking blood in the Sometime Testament. Blood is life, information technology'southward strength and the power and spirit, and the claret of Jesus, the son of God, was enough to absolve for the sins of all mankind. It's the most powerful claret that ever has been.
Now Susan Lambert, whose destiny is has been to help in the wage against the evil coming works with her cousin Wendy, a friend David alongside three vampires, Raphael, his sire, Gabriel and their friend Paul to stop Richelieu from obtaining the artifacts and forbid them from obtaining the blood of Jesus Christ. They will use all the weapons necessary to stay alive and stay ahead of the game. In that location is a diary that Gabriel entrusts to Susan to read that volition show them how it had all come up to this point and hopefully within its contents, the undercover to winning against Richelieu volition be revealed.
I received Kiss of Decease past Debbie Viguie' compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest opinion. I inhaled her showtime book and was more thrilled when I got the opportunity to review this ane besides. I take to say these novels have absorbed me from the very first page and the historical detail that Debbie creates for Gabriel and Raphael breathes life into them and makes them seem existent. I love the inner struggle that both Gabriel and Raphael experience when they work against their inner temptations to go dorsum into their vampire habits, and instead do whatsoever it takes to find redemption in doing good. I charge per unit this one a 5 out of five stars and think it'due south a MUST READ for fans of the Twilight series as a Christian alternative.

While I missed the first volume, there was enough back story included to bring yous up to speed and this book can stand alone easily. Susan, and her friends take taken a pretty rough beating at the hands of an evil vampire Richelieu. While Raphael and Gabriel are off trying to find that evil vampire and his minions, Susan and her cousin are translating the journal of their twelfth century relative Carissa. Swapping back and along between the present day and the twelfth century, you lot will follow the girls as they learn how their family became connected with the vampires. A compelling tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A tale of betrayal, love and hate.
This book intrigued me and I am so happy I got the chance to review it. A bang-up book, that doesn't really cease, I take to read the next book! 320 pages Us $14.99 v stars!

In the hunt for the vampire Richelieu we follow Susan, Wendy and the vampires Raphael and his sire, Gabriel as the travel Europe searching for Holy Relics before Richelieu can get his easily on them and use them to proceeds unknown power. The fast-paced tale jumps dorsum and forth between the twelfth century with Gabriel and Carissa with notes from Carissa'south diary and the present solar day search for Richelieu. Both Gabriel and Raphael seemed to accept battled the same affair, their feelings for a living, non-vampiric woman.
In both of their stories the tension shivers but below the surface. Information technology'south a really intoxicating and thrilling mix that makes for quite a tale. The human characters have that likeability factor that is oh and so of import but the vampires take that mystique virtually them. You lot don't know quite what to make of them. Are they skilful? Are they evil? Volition they find the artifacts or won't they? And most importantly, can they be redeemed? I will exist curious to see how this series concludes especially since the last book is titled Kiss of Revenge. That merely sounds so chilling, doesn't it? If you lot're looking for a spooky book to read this weekend I'd definitely recommend the Kiss books!

The story is more often than not about her with a mod-day frame story outlining it, which is being read by both Susan and Wendy in the form of Carissa'due south diary. Wow! This book is my first favorite read this twelvemonth. Even better than Book 1. Carissa's story is literally enthralling. I have no pick but to read the last book in the trilogy just to meet what the heck happens to her.The story is mostly well-nigh her with a mod-day frame story outlining it, which is being read past both Susan and Wendy in the form of Carissa's diary. At that place is enough intrigue and intersection of the two stories being told that y'all see, by the stop, how they connect. At least in i respect (who Carissa's husband actually was). And, how deplorable is her story! Information technology's just center-breaking the depravity of some people. But, I must read on to see how the other threads connect!

I don't imagine that this is your typical vampire story,
Kiss of Decease is the 2nd volume in the Osculation Trilogy by Debbie Viguie. This series is a very unique and defining series amidst the ranks of stories that feature and bargain with vampires and vampire lore. It is a story that is both touching and challenging, and in one case you stare into its captivating eyes, you lot will already be risking all and feeling the effects of your own inner struggle when the real bite of this story begins to take hold of you.I don't imagine that this is your typical vampire story, and I wouldn't want it to exist anything only singular. I see myself as a meticulous reader. While I want to be instructed about things that I don't know much nigh, I also desire to be challenged to retrieve beyond my ain little earth. I desire to see the true person that I am walking side by side to like never earlier. I need to know that we every bit humans are not a lost cause similar so many would take us believe. I long to feel that I am alive and can hear my ain heartbeat even if information technology is through the actions, words, and thoughts of another. This series delivers everything that I want and so much more each pace of the way.
The main characters in this story consist of normal, everyday humans named Susan, Wendy, and David besides equally the typical vampires named Raphael, Paul, and Gabriel. While you might assume that the focus of this story is wrapped up in the dissimilarity between the ii groups (east.g. weakness to strength, light verses darkness, alive verses walking expressionless, etc.) since information technology is a story that involves vampires, you would be wrong because the focus of this story is not what yous would look it to be. Instead, I institute that the primary thing that jumped out at me throughout this serial was distinguishing who the existent monsters were from the presumed ones. While we all know that vampires, if they existed, would be a terrible monster by our human standards, how many human monsters walk our streets everyday who are not imprisoned, tortured, feared, and routinely hunted down? The merely difference between the ii is in how nosotros define what makes up a monster, and at times, that definition is frighteningly thin and lacking.
Numerous sub storylines dot the landscape of this intricate journey, and I am relieved to say that at that place is never a deadening moment. One of the sub plots is the budding romance that we see develop betwixt Raphael and Susan. While y'all could draw conclusions that their romance mirrors that of Bella and Edward from the Twilight series, I would beg that y'all not demean this romance by that comparison. While they may feel like the aforementioned on the outside, on the inside this romance is one being built on true trust, self-cede, and genuine respect for the other. Susan doesn't show the young nature of Bella in insisting on becoming something she isn't in order to finally exist happy, but she shows the maturity of an inner strength that helps to guide her along her manner with Raphael every bit her guide\bodyguard. Susan'southward burgeoning feelings for Raphael are a result of a mutual attraction betwixt them that is only strengthened past her deep loyalty and her tearing delivery to their shared goal of stopping a vampire with sinister plans.
Ane of the nigh intriguing parts of this series is how information technology approaches the traditional vampire lore. I have to say that I always enjoy a story that runs contrary to the normal prepare of traits for a particular group of people, and this was no exception. I was delighted with her remaking of the history and purpose of existence a vampire, and I must say that information technology was truly a breath of fresh air to meet this wonderful development to this historic period old myth. I honestly wish this story would go beyond the next book because to run across the concluding pages of such a magical and meaningful story finish brings a great sadness to my heart, simply I estimate like the old maxim goes, all skilful things must come to an finish. My just condolement in that is that otherwise the next practiced thing would not be able to come up to life.
Debbie Viguie has crafted an outstanding tale that interweaves modern times, church history, and vampiric lore that results in one of the most beautiful songs of prose that I have cherished and enjoyed then thoroughly. Her writing flowed so effortlessly off the page and into my heart where it seared itself and left a lasting impression. Her intensely descriptive and deeply touching writing reminded me at times of the beautiful prose that Tosca Lee is known for. I take been on a journeying for a while now to find new and wonderful books to read and savor, and through Debbie Viguie I know that I accept definitely constitute such books. This is one author that I will be keeping a close eye on. Meanwhile, I am impatiently agonizing over the look for the last book of this Buss Trilogy to exist released (Kiss of Revenge), so that I may devour that book every bit well and observe just how this dark yet beautiful story ends.

I cannot figure out why everyone is so terrified of Gabriel. He doesn't seem scary in the least. I really think he's the most interesting grapheme of them all and I can't wait to detect out more than virtually him in the tertiary volume. I hope information technology doesn't disappoint.
What does disappoint, however, is that we STILL exercise not have a clue why that cross necklace is so important. And but what exactly will happen if Richelieu'due south plans succeed? The story keeps telling us that it volition be atrocious, horrible, terrible, only I'm not buying it. It's simply not disarming plenty.
While we're on the bailiwick of Richelieu, tell me again how he has managed to survive 400+ years without someone recognizing him equally THE Key Richelieu? The author tells the states that he doesn't have to have an all-out war to gain ultimate power because he has spent centuries putting his own men in very powerful places. Whaaaa? And just HOW has he done this without someone noticing that he keeps on living century after century without aging? This is just i teeny tiny example of my "huh?" moments throughout this series. I realize information technology'southward a vampire book, then of form NOT Real, simply sometimes I feel the author asks a bit much in the way of suspending disbelief.
What I do love well-nigh this series, however, is the author'due south premise that no one is beyond redemption, that the blood of Christ is sufficient for anyone, no matter what they accept done. The letter from the author at the beginning of this book was very helpful to me in farther agreement her reasons for writing this sort of story, and I wish I had read it first, before reading book 1. If you happen to be reading my review and you lot've never read this series before, I urge you to pick up a re-create of Osculation of Decease and read the author'due south letter at the very kickoff Offset, before yous read whatsoever of the books in this series. "Every person, no affair their circumstances, by, or the evil they have done tin can exist redeemed by God through the blood of Christ. In the end, that blood is all that matters." Love that! Every bit I mentioned in my review of Kiss of Night, I exercise worry that the intended audience will miss out on this book and the series. Devout Christians will probably avoid the series altogether considering, how could a book about vampires be anything a devout Christian should read? It can't exist adept, right? And non-Christians might be fatigued to information technology because of the vampire craze, but may be left fifty-fifty more dislocated most Christianity than they were earlier picking it up. Information technology is considered "Christian fiction," only there isn't a whole lot of truthful Christianity throughout (minus a few references to prayer and not wanting to impale people, and a Bible poesy to begin each affiliate), and some things, albeit small, are even in error. (For instance, the cup from which Christ drank at The Final Supper, the "holy grail," never actually held His blood. Information technology merely held wine, which represented His blood in the new covenant. Just the characters at i betoken believe that Richelieu is pursuing The Holy Grail considering of the fact that it in one case held Christ's claret.) Things like these may seem pocket-sized, but they can become huge stumbling blocks for those who are seeking or who have questions virtually Christianity.
I know I sound harsh but I still give information technology 4 stars because it'due south just so unique, well-written, and not preachy. The writing is sound, and the story is compelling (even if you don't particularly care for the present-day human characters). There is plenty of action to proceed the pages turning quickly. I will definitely exist reading volume 3 in this series. I can't wait to learn more about Gabriel and Raphael!

Debbie ViguiƩ's Osculation of Death takes pla
Kiss of Death is the second book in the Osculation Trilogy by Debbie ViguiĆ©. Set shortly after the events in the starting time book; Susan and her friends are recovering from their meet with Richelieu — an evil vampire. Now, after uncovering his plans, Gabriel and Raphael must exercise what they can to stop Richelieu before it's too tardily. Meanwhile, Susan, Wendy learn more of the past through an ancient diary, telling the story of their ancestor, and their friend Gabriel.Debbie ViguiĆ©'s Buss of Expiry takes place alternately between modern-day and the twelfth century in a compelling tale as the girls larn of their history and how information technology's interwoven with vampires. Telling of expose, friendship, love and hate, Kiss of Decease is a great read with fascinating characters.
I don't typically read immature adult stories involving vampires, in the past few years they've more often than not go formulaic and not at all resembling how they used to be portrayed equally — monsters. However, having read many of ViguiĆ©'s books in the past and enjoying her style, I decided to give this ane a endeavour, and was pleasantly surprised. The vampires in this novel are ones that burn and turn to ash in sunlight, are harmed by holy water and crosses and definitely hate the scent of garlic. Merging the classic vampires with the modern-solar day version — the handsome, human loving kind gave these a bit more of a unique twist, and information technology was enjoyable to read well-nigh them.
Kiss of Death and the residue of the Osculation Trilogy is an endeavour to brand Christian themes accessible for non-Christians, as well as for Christians who bask reading fantasy; telling a tale of redemption, and the struggle between good and evil. From a non-religious standpoint, I did find it to be interesting, and the religious aspects were non overpowering in the story, while withal playing a central theme.
Overall, ViguiƩ'southward Kiss of Death was a corking action-packed, and compelling read, with enough back story provided that it easily stands alone and can be read without having read the first in the trilogy. Though, I am certain that the commencement one was a corking read as well.
The tertiary book in the Kiss Trilogy — Buss of Revenge will be released in 2013.

While waiting for Gabriel and Raphael to render, Wendy translates it from French. Written in the 12th century the diary tells of heartbreak and betrayal. Carissa'due south story is of how the vampires came to be continued to Susan and Wendy'due south family.
Throughout the story Susan and Raphael are separated so in that location isn't much romance betwixt them like in the start book. The office of the story that interested me the nigh was the excerpts from Carissa's diary telling of her life and how her family became connected to the vampire globe. Equally in Kiss of Night where all of the capacity began with a verse of scripture nigh claret, Osculation of Death began each chapter with a poetry on decease. I found that the transitions from the present with Susan and Raphael to the by with Carissa and her vampire were done seamlessly. There were lots of tense moments in both the present and the past that kept me turning the pages. I don't know when the next book Osculation of Revenge comes out, but I must get my hands on it! The Kiss novels are marketed as Christian vampire stories; I will let someone far more than skilful at argument than I tackle that attribute of the books. The demand for redemption could apply to any person, the characters in demand of redemption in the Kiss novels simply happen to be vampires.

When I have read other novels that accept incorporated Biblical scriptures I read them as a foretelling of what would happen in that affiliate or a description of the person they would be talking nigh next in that affiliate. I am not versed in scriptures nor truly understand them so each statement simply threw me off.
My other problem with this was if The Cardinal Richelieu is over 400 years erstwhile, but nevertheless still Cardinal how has no ane noticed? What exactly will be the aftermath if Richelieu succeeds? Too poor Paul is not healing at all and seems to be stuck in limbo, but has anyone thought to requite the man alive blood?
I plant myself really engrossed in Carissa's story from the periodical that Gabriel had given to Susan. I wanted more than info and didn't want then to stop reading it. It was not until the very terminal page when my jaw dropped and things came full circumvolve.
For a 320 page book I but feel like I was missing information. I would assume the last volume will answer all of my questions and hopefully let Raphael and Gabriel redeem themselves. Yet what will that truly mean for them? Will they be no longer cursed, able to die in peace, or just transformed into humans again?

I really enjoyed this book ... more so than I think the last one
Susan and Wendy translate a diary of their many times great aunt, Carissa, and learn nigh the past and the family connexion to vampires.
Information technology was very exciting and dangerous ... nosotros learned much most Gabriel the vampire and his connexion to Carissa and how they formed unlikely partnership in the 12t it's been a while since I read the start book so information technology took me some time to retrieve who was who and how they got where they were ...

It was very exciting and dangerous ... we learned much about Gabriel the vampire and his connection to Carissa and how they formed unlikely partnership in the 12th century ... they each help the other to escape those who hunt ...
however, there is certainly more than to the story every bit Susan and Wendy didn't finish reading the diary
Susan has Carissa's cross necklace and is guarding it with her life merely the cross still holds secrets and she'southward waiting for a packet from home to help figure out that secret ... again, we are left without the respond ... cliffhangers are only crawly when you take the next volume in hand ... HAHA and thankfully I do
Debbie Viguie blends religion with her vampire world and I rather enjoyed that despite my not being catholic or overly religious ... I recollect it lent the story more than realism
Her Vampires are pretty average in that crosses and holy water burn them, stake through the heart, garlic and sun calorie-free and being drawn to sleep during the 24-hour interval light ... blah blah it'southward all pretty common but the story isn't as average as that ... they evolve as they age and tin control the blood thirst and fifty-fifty learn to resist the sun
I look forward to learning more almost the vampires, Carissa, Susan and Wendy ...
